Le 23 octobre prochain, Christie’s Paris présentera sa vente annuelle Art Moderne, réunissant une sélection exceptionnelle d’huiles, d’œuvres sur papier et de sculptures issues de prestigieuses collections particulières. Réunies par des collectionneurs érudits au goût raffiné et singulier, ces œuvres offrent un panorama riche de l’art impressionniste et moderne.

Parmi les ensembles phares de la vente figureront 31 œuvres provenant de la collection Durand-Ruel, rendant hommage à la vision exceptionnelle du célèbre marchand Paul Durand-Ruel. Figure majeure de la défense de l’impressionnisme, celui-ci contribua notamment à faire connaître l’œuvre de Claude Monet et de Camille Pissarro, tout en accompagnant la génération postimpressionniste qui leur succéda. Cet ensemble réunira notamment des œuvres particulièrement recherchées d’Eugène Durenne et de Gustave Loiseau.

La vente présentera également 35 œuvres issues de la célèbre collection américaine de Marlene et Spencer Hays. Cet ensemble met à l’honneur les artistes Nabis, avec de remarquables exemples de Paul Ranson, Xavier Ker-Roussel et Édouard Vuillard.

Parmi les collections emblématiques de cette vente figurera également Radiant Modernism: Signac to Albers, qui réunira des œuvres majeures d’Odilon Redon et de Félix Vallotton, ainsi qu’un ensemble remarquable d’aquarelles de Paul Signac.

Le mouvement surréaliste sera également représenté à travers une sélection spectaculaires d’œuvres sur papier de Leonora Carrington et Hans Bellmer, témoignant de la diversité et de la richesse des courants artistiques réunis au sein de cette vente.

Parmi les autres temps forts figureront plusieurs redécouvertes de maîtres majeurs de l’art moderne, notamment Pablo Picasso, Pierre Bonnard et Pierre-Auguste Renoir, aux côtés de nombreuses autres œuvres qui seront dévoilées lors de notre exposition, ouvrant ses portes le 16 octobre prochain.

On 23 October, Christie’s Paris will present its annual Modern Art sale, bringing together an exceptional selection of paintings, works on paper and sculptures from prestigious private collections. Assembled by discerning collectors with refined and distinctive tastes, these works offer a rich panorama of Impressionist and Modern art.

Among the highlights of the sale will be 31 works from the Durand-Ruel Collection, paying tribute to the exceptional vision of the renowned dealer Paul Durand-Ruel. A pivotal figure in the promotion of Impressionism, he played a major role in bringing the work of the movement’s forefathers such as Claude Monet and Camille Pissarro to a wider audience, while also championing the generation of Post-Impressionist artists that followed. The collection will notably include highly sought-after works by Eugène Durenne and Gustave Loiseau.

The sale will also feature 35 works from the celebrated American collection of Marlene and Spencer Hays. This group places particular emphasis on the Nabis, with remarkable examples by Paul Ranson, Xavier Ker-Roussel and Édouard Vuillard.

Another of the sale’s landmark collections will be Radiant Modernism: Signac to Albers, bringing together major works by Odilon Redon and Félix Vallotton, alongside a remarkable group of watercolours by Paul Signac. The Surrealist movement will also be represented through a spectacular selection of works on paper by Leonora Carrington and Hans Bellmer, highlighting the diversity and richness of the artistic movements brought together in this sale.

Further highlights will include several rediscoveries by major masters of Modern art, including Pablo Picasso, Pierre Bonnard and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, alongside numerous other works to be unveiled during our exhibition, which opens on 16 October.

Lou Clinton-Celini is the Head of Online sales and Junior Specialist for the Impressionist and Modern Art department in Paris. She joined the Christie's team in New York in 2021 as expertise liaison and cataloguer, researching the sales, and was transferred to Paris in 2025. Prior to joining Christie’s, Lou received her Master’s Degree in Art History from Sorbonne University in Paris, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree with honors from Columbia University in New York. She has successfully completed training in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice facilitated by a certified AQB instructor from the Appraisers Association of America.
