Descriptif du lot

The present painting is after Guido Reni's composition of the subject, of which he is known to have painted two versions. One where Fortune holds a purse, now in the Vatican Pinacoteca, Rome (inv. no. MV.40653.0.0), and the other where she holds a crown. The latter was last seen at auction in 2019 (Christie's, London, 3 December 2019, lot 36). Another version with the crown also carries the attribution to Reni, and is kept at the Accademia di San Luca, Rome (inv. no. 429).
