Descriptif du lot

The present work is related to Jackson's monumental Sacagawea painted bronze, a cast of which is now in the collection of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming. According to Larry Pointer and Donald Goddard, Sacagawea was "the first dominant female figure in Jackson's work...[recalling] an image and form that encompasses the source of life and the history of all such images in Western Art—the Madonna and Child" (Harry Jackson, New York, 1981, p. 145) The present version was cast in an edition of 20.
