Vernay, New York, where acquired in January 1928 by, with Knoedler & Co., New York, where acquired in September 1928 by, John Compton Cavendish, 4th Baron Chesham (1894-1952); Sotheby's, London, 13 February 1946, lot 13 (part lot), where acquired by the following, Prince Ali Khan (1911-1960), by whom bequeathed to the father of the present owners.
