CIRCA 1715-20, LUSTRE B: MARK TO UNDERSIDE OF HOLLOW BASE
Modelled standing, holding fowl in her right hand, a gold coin in her left hand and a wicker basket over her left arm, wearing a ribbed hat, gilt scarf, jacket and skirt edged in gilding, on a shaped rectangular stepped plinth base with a gilt diaper-pattern band (chipping to brim of hat, minute chipping to tip of bird's wings, some wear to gilding)

Descriptif du lot

No other versions of this model are recorded, however, there are similarly modelled figures. These include a Callot figure of the Strict Housekeeper, also marked with a lustred B, formerly in the Dr. Emil and Dr. Erika Pauls Collection, sold by Christie's, London, 14 June 1994, lot 183, where it was attributed to Georg Fritzche; it is illustrated by Dr. Erika Pauls-Eisenbeiss, German Porcelain of the 18th Century, Vol. I, London, 1972, pp. 70-71. See also the pair of (unmarked) Chinese men or temple guards which are similarly modelled to the present figure illustrated by Ulrich Pietsch and Claudia Banz (ed.), Triumph of the Blue Swords, Meissen Porcelain for Aristocracy and Bourgeoisie 1710-1815, Exhibition Catalogue, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, 2010, pp. 179-180, cat. no. 36.
