Descriptif du lot

"This bench fits the furniture that Rietveld brought together for a 'residential suggestion' by him at a furniture exhibition at the Bijenkorf in Amsterdam in 1954. The theme of the exhibition was 'the colour scheme 1954'.
This bench with its cushion is visible on the 1947 photograph of the interior of Rietveld's house on Vredenburg in Utrecht. Here it is still unpainted. I painted it black and white in accordance with the stools on the photograph of the exhibition at the Bijenkorf (Centraal Museum, cat. Nr. 465)."
