CIRCA 1725, DREHER'S .. MARK TO ONE TEABOWL AND MARK TO SAUCERS, GILDER'S . TO ALL PIECES
Each side of the teabowls painted with an Oriental on a terrace, one with a figure kneeling before a deity in a rocky outcrop, within gilt quatrefoil cartouches edged by iron-red foliate scrolls, the interiors with circular panels of indianische Blumen and rockwork below elaborate Gitterwerk borders, one saucer with a figure holding a vase enriched with Böttger-lustre, the other with a slender figure holding a bowl with jewellery and other objects, within similar cartouches and borders (2)

Descriptif du lot

The praying figures (on the un-illustrated sides of both teabowls) are derived from sheet 16 of Höroldt's Schulz Codex. The figure carrying a vase on the left-hand saucer is probably derived from a similar figure on sheet 66 of the Schulz Codex.
