Almost certainly acquired by Baron Mayer Amschel de Rothschild for Mentmore Towers, Buckinghamshire and by descent to his daughter, Hannah, wife of the 5th Earl of Rosebery and thence by descent to the 6th Earl of Rosebery, Mentmore; (+) Sotheby's, 25 May [=7th day of sale] 1977, lot 2440 (from the Gilt Bedroom), when purchased for the late owner.
