Lot Essay

According to the Piaget Archives, the present timepiece was manufactured in 1988.

Originally introduced within the Gouverneur line, reference 15958 debuted alongside some of Piaget’s more technically ambitious creations, including chronographs, petite sonnerie, and even grande sonnerie wristwatches. The reference 15958, which featured a sophisticated triple calendar with moon phase complication, showed that Piaget could combine aesthetic elegance with true horological substance at a time when the Maison was widely praised for its glamorous and design-driven creations.

The dial, crafted in white enamel and finished with a delicate lacquer sheen, forms a particularly elegant canvas for the calendar indications. The day, date, and month are shown on three subdials that are charmingly written in Italian and give the composition a unique flair. The watch's yellow gold case is only 33 mm in diameter and 8 mm in thickness, making it remarkably minimal despite the complex display.

Powering the timepiece is the automatic calibre 8532P, a movement that reflects Piaget’s longstanding expertise in the development of ultra-thin calibres, a field in which the manufacture has historically excelled. The result is a watch that perfectly balances technical sophistication with the refined elegance that has long defined the Piaget name.
