Lot Essay

With A. Lange & Söhne Guarantee Certificate dated 27 November 1998 stamped by A. Türler, Berlin, product literature, Türler Berlin original receipt dated 27 November 1998, copy of A. Lange & Söhne and Thoma Baden-Baden servicing invoice dated 5 January 2011, original fitted presentation box and outer packaging.

The "Langematik" model was introduced into the market in 1997, featuring A. Lange & Söhne's first wristwatch with automatic movement since the revival of the company in 1995.

The newly developed in-house calibre L921.4 is fitted with Lange's patented "zero-reset" mechanism, simplifying the synchronization of the watch with a time signal. When the crown is pulled out, it automatically causes the seconds hand to jump to the 12 o'clock or "0" position.

The designation for Lange's self-winding movements, SAX-0-MAT, stands for "Saxony", the firm's state of origin; "0" is the numeral zero and signifies the zero-reset time-setting mechanism and "MAT" stands for automatic.
