THREE CHANDELIERS FROM THE PROTESTANT COMMUNITY CHURCH OF OOST-GRAFTDIJK IN THE PROVINCE OF NORTH HOLLAND (LOTS 198-200)
The chandeliers presented here as lots 198-200, were always in the Church at Oost Graftdijk near de Rijp. The original church was built in 1647. It was rebuilt in 1840, after having been destroyed in 1836. The three chandeliers were salvaged from the old church. This is confirmed by three different inventory reports of the 'Nederlands Hervormd' church of Oost-Graftdijk, it seems likely that since three centuries, the three brass chandeliers were already owned by this church:
Van Agt mentions drie koperen kaarsenkronen, XVIId (last quarter 7th century) in his inventory report of the church (1953); Van Arkel and Weissman mention drie kronen van 12 blakers (1891); And finally, the historiographer Gijsbert Boomkamp described the church's inventory in De stadt Alkmaer met haare dorpen (1740), where he also mentions the chandeliers in de kerk hangen 3 kopre kerkkronen.
