In the 1930s, Ebel began producing watches for Cartier and developing and supplying watches to the British Royal Air Force. The brand achieved global success in the 1970s with the Ebel Sport Classic, an elegant sports watch that would go on to become one of the brand’s most recognisable and popular models.
Ebel women’s watches with a sporty-chic aesthetic soon followed. The Ebel Wave watch featuring the brand’s signature wave bracelet first appeared in 1977, followed in 1985 by the Ebel Beluga watch. The original Ebel 1911 was launched in 1986 as part of the Sport Classic family to commemorate the brand’s 75th anniversary. Ebel 1911 watches are characterised by their harmonious balance of form and function.
In more recent times, the company has reimagined some of its heritage models in line with shifting trends and tastes. It has also introduced new designs including the Ebel Onde watch and the Ebel Brasilia watch, which features a softened rectangular case and sleek stainless-steel hour and minute hands.
As for Ebel men’s watches, other popular models include Ebel’s Discovery chronographs, which are distinguished by their extra sports functionality and high precision automatic movements.
Christie’s offers both contemporary and vintage Ebel watches. Also available to purchase are limited-edition Ebel watches and Ebel diamond watches. In 2014, a limited-edition Ebel 18k white gold watch with diamonds achieved HKD 250,000 at Christie’s in Hong Kong.
